I saw Julie and Julia several months ago when it was still in the theater. What a great movie! And unlike the general consensus, I thought Amy Adams was adorable as Julie Powell and I found her character more relatable than Julia Child.
Anyway, apparently the movie had more influence on me than I realized. I'm having friends over tomorrow and my menu has a definite French theme! The main course is coq au vin and it smells soo good in my house right now. Maybe I'll try taking some pictures to post tomorrow. We'll see.
This is adapted from several different recipes.2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch pieces2 cups Merlot1 cup chopped onion1 cup (approx 4) sliced carrots1 cup sliced mushrooms1 6-ounce can tomato paste1/4 cup chicken broth2 strips precooked bacon, cut into 1-inch slices2 tbs Zesty Herb Marinade mix by McCormick (in the little envelopes)1 bay leafMix all ingredients together in a crockpot. Stir to combine. Cook on low 6 hours. Serve over egg noodles. (Don't forget to remove the bay leaf first)!
I thought that Julie in the movie was far more relatable than Julie in the book.
ReplyDeleteAnd, it is fabulous to see you post again~
WOW! You've changed things around here. You are still the same Sue who used to be a Pea, right? But now you have a cooking blog? Or am I mistaken? If you are Sue, then to refresh your memory, I'm she of "Confessions of a Fangirl" blogger fame :p ... using a bit of an alias here with Penny, so that explains that.
ReplyDeleteHi guys!!! Yep, it's me. I got bored with the whole blogging thing, because I thought my life was kinda boring and it was a lot of work trying to be entertaining. LOL.
ReplyDeleteMimi, I didn't read the book and after reading reviews of her newest one, I probably won't. I just adored the movie though. I didn't want it to end.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog. You site is so fun! I'll definitely be trying Coq au Vin!
